But Wait! There’s More!

Wisconsin Postcard

I’ve neglected to mention that there are more books to come in what I have decided to call The Wings of Morning Trilogy. On the Wings of Morning ends in December, 1946, and it occurred to me that Otto’s story could go on. So, the second book in the trilogy has the working title On Eagle’s Wings Upborne and follows Otto and Betty from about 1948 through 1965. The third book, with the working title Beyond the Blue Horizon, will run from 1966 to the present. SO there’s more to come.

In addition, I plan to write about Mata’s experiences on the home front during the war. That will be called Mata’s Story. It could have several parts as well.

Also, I want to write a series of vignettes about Otto’s home town, Pioneer Lake. I know all characters and, typically, they do small town things. They are good people (except for the Smiths) and have a lot going on. This would be called The Pioneer Lake Chronicles and it also might have several parts.

I was thinking I could draw a little map of the places in Pioneer Lake. I know where everything is. I could do this if I could draw, but let me see what I can do and I’ll post it here if it’s fit for human eyes.

My, I am ambitious for a fellow who hasn’t published a book yet. The publisher has had the manuscript for almost two weeks now, which I am taking as a good sign that they are seriously considering it. Either that, or they are reading passages aloud and laughing hysterically at it.

Stay tuned to see what will happen next!

About huckfinn47

I taught high school English for 32 years, all at Robinson High School in Fairfax, VA. My students called me "Mr. V," and I was fortunate to have some terrific young people in my classes. I have made contact with some of them, particularly on Facebook, and enjoy seeing what they're up to. My other nickname, given to me by our then assistant pastor Jim Vaught, is Lieutenant Dan, after the Gary Sinise character in Forrest Gump, one of my favorite movies. I never got anywhere near military service, so the name is somewhat ironic. I greatly admire our troops and respect their sacrifices. On the Wings of Morning is my first novel worth talking about.
